Cheteshwar Pujara has made a comeback to India's Test team while youngsters Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have received an India call-up as the selection committee on Sunday named the squad for the five-match T20I series against South African in June and the one-off Test against England in July.
Senior pros Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested for the T20Is, while youngsters, who have impressed in IPL 2022, have been given an opportunity.
K L Rahul -- who captains IPL debutants Lucknow SuperGiants -- will lead India's T20 side while wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik has made his way back into the team on the back of some strong performances for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season.
Rishabh Pant -- the Delhi Capitals captain -- will be the team's vice-captain.
Hardik Pandya, who leads IPL 2022 table-toppers Gujarat Titans in the ongoing IPL season, has also returned to the team. Hardik last played for India in the 2021 T20 World Cup in UAE.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav -- among the leading wicket-takers in IPL 2022 -- have been named in the squad as are Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Umran Malik has so far picked up 21 wickets in 13 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and his ability to bowl consistently at 95 miles per hour has caught the imagination of all and sundry.
Along with Umran, Punjab Kings' death overs specialist Arshdeep Singh has also earned his maiden national call-up.
Rohit Sharma will lead India in the the one-off Test against England at Edgbaston from July 1-5. Rohit, Kohli and Bumrah will fly to England on June 15 for the Test.
Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are the pace-bowling options while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are the spin options. K S Bharat has been named as the back-up wicket-keeper to Rishabh Pant.
Cheteshwar Pujara is in the squad on the back of strong performances for Sussex in the English county championship.
