Australia thrashed arch rivals England by 111 runs on opening day but Finn, 25, grabbed some consolation when he became the first English bowler to take a hat-trick at a World Cup.
Finn removed Brad Haddin, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson to deny Australia a record total of 344 as they closed on 342-9.
