India's star batsman Suresh Raina completed the Swacch Bharat Challenge in his home town, Ghaziabad, on Wednesday after being nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month.
"Swacch Bharat abhiyaan is a synonym of patriotism. Feel elated at having completed my challenge. Thanks @PMOIndia," he wrote on Twitter.
The left-hander nominated nine people, including his Uttar Pradesh teammates Praveen Kumar, RP Singh, Piyush Chawla, India hockey goalkeeper P R Sreejesh, Board of Control for Cricket in India vice-president Rajeev Shukla, singers Shreya Ghosal and Sonu Nigam to take forward the Challenge and urged them to continue the campaign.
India's badminton stars Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth, who recently won the China Open, were also nominated by Raina to clean up their surroundings.
In his bid to make 'Swachh Bharat' a people's movement, Prime Minister Modi had last month initiated a chain by inviting nine eminent personalities, including cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, industrialist Anil Ambani and several actors to spread awareness on cleanliness.
