Hussain's rare honour

Nasser Hussain's decision of calling it a day has left him with a very rare honour, that is, scoring a hundred on last appearance in a Test match. His 103 not out was instrumental in England winning the Lord's Test against New Zealand.

Hussain thus joined the select band of players who have scored a hundred in their last Test innings. He is also the eighth Englishman and first since Colin Milburn (in 1968-69) to do so.

West Indian Seymour Nurse and Sri Lanka's Aravinda de Silva are the only batsmen to have scored a double hundred in their last Test innings. England's CAG Russell is the only one to have scored in both innings of his last Test.

Australia's Greg Chappell and India's Mohammad Azharuddin are the only players to have scored a hundred in their first and last Test innings. West Indies' AG Ganteaume's hundred was in the first and only innings of his Test career.

The following table does not include the contemporary batsmen who have scored a hundred in their last Test innings and are expected to play further Test cricket. Vandort, Love and Carlisle are included as they are not currently playing for their respective sides.
