Stats: McCullum has amassed 1,000 runs vs India

Statistical highlights on day three of the second and final cricket Test between India and New Zealand at Basin Reserve in Wellington. 

Bradley-John Watling's unbeaten 52 off 208 balls is his highest score against India in Tests and during his innings, he has completed his 1,000 runs in Tests, totalling 1020 at an average of 34.00 in 21 Tests.

# Watling's seventh Test fifty is his first vs India in Tests. He had taken 190 balls to reach his fifty, one of the slowest half-centuries in Tests in New Zealand.

# Mahendra Singh Dhoni, with 18 dismissals in four Tests, has equalled an Indian record for most dismissals by an Indian wicketkeeper in Tests in New Zealand. Syed Kirmani had effected 18 dismissals in six Tests in New Zealand.

# Brendon McCullum has completed his 5,000 runs – his run-aggregate being 5031 (ave. 36.99) in 84 Tests - and became the fourth New Zealand player to complete 5,000 runs or more in Tests.  Stephen Fleming (7172), Martin Crowe (5444) and John Wright (5334) are the leading run-getters for New Zealand in Tests.

McCullum's run-aggregate of 347 at an average of 115.66 in the current rubber is his second highest in a Test series behind the 370 (ave.74.00) in three Tests in India in 2010-11.

# McCullum has become the first New Zealand batsmen to complete a Test century with a six on three occasions in Tests - vs Bangladesh in the 2009-10 Hamilton Test and in the Auckland and Wellington Tests against India in the current rubber.  John Wright is the only other New Zealander to complete his hundred with a six against India during his knock of 110 in the 1980-81 Auckland Test.

# McCullum became the first New Zealand batsman to register the said feat twice in a Test rubber. His superb unbeaten knock of 114 off 237 balls is his ninth Test hundred. His tally of four centuries against India is a New Zealand record.  As captain, he has registered three Test hundreds - two against India and one against West Indies (113) at Dunedin in 2013 last year.

McCullum's above century is the second by New Zealand captain against India at Basin Reserve, Wellington. Geoff Howarth had registered an unbeaten 137 off 237 balls in February 1981.

# McCullum has amassed 1,000 runs against an opponent for the first time in Tests - his tally being 1036 at an average of 60.94 in ten Tests against India.  He is the only New Zealand batsman to manage 1,000 runs against India, obliterating Graham Dowling's tally of 964 at an average of 48.20 in eleven Tests.

# McCullum became the third New Zealand skipper to manage 300 runs or more in a Test series against India.  John Wright - 375 (ave.125.00) in 1989-90 and Graham Dowling – 318 (ave.53.00) in 1967-68 had accomplished the feats earlier.

# McCullum became the first New Zealand skipper to post a hundred in the second innings of a Test match against India. He reached his century off 197 balls, his slowest ever.

McCullum and Watling have shared an unbroken stand of 158 - New Zealand's highest sixth-wicket partnership against India, eclipsing the 137 between Chris Cairns and Craig McMillan in December 1998.

# The above stand is New Zealand's highest sixth-wicket partnership in the second innings in Tests.  The said partnership is New Zealand's third highest for the sixth wicket in Tests in New Zealand - and their highest at Basin Reserve.

# The above partnership scored at a run-rate of 2.56 runs per over - the second slowest in a Test match in New Zealand in a partnership of 150 or more (minimum qualification: 200 balls).
