Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batsman Kaushal Silva has been discharged from hospital and declared fully fit to play, two days after being hit on the head by a cricket ball.
He was struck by a powerful sweep from teammate Dinesh Chandimal and suffered mild concussion during a practice match at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy.
He took evasive action by turning his head but was hit on the padded attachment at the back his helmet, which was mandated following Phillip Hughes's death after being hit by a ball in Australia in 2014.
Confirming the news, team manager Charith Senanayake said Silva was given a clean chit of health after scans indicated no major trauma, ESPNcricinfo reported.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket said the player was cleared to resume physical activity, but would be rested for two days before restarting training.
Silva, who smashed a century during that match, has a good chance of being named in the national squad for the upcoming tour of England .
England and Sri Lanka will play three Tests, five ODIs and a T20 match, starting with the first Test at Headingley, Leeds, on May 19.
