1.00 South Africa's run-rate in this innings – lowest for any side against India in an innings spanning 50 overs or more. Pakistan had a run-rate of 1.28 at Peshawar in 1954-55.

5 Ajinkya Rahane became fifth Indian batsman to score twin hundreds in a Test after Sunil Gavaskar (who has done so thrice), Rahul Dravid (who has done so twice), Vijay Hazare and Virat Kohli. Incidentally Rahane is the first Indian and only the ninth batsman in the world to score twin hundreds in a Test while batting at number five or lower.

7 Number of sixes hit by Ajinkya Rahane in the match. Only Navjot Sidhu has hit more sixes in a Test for India – 8 vs Sri Lanka at Lucknow in 1993-94. Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh also had a match tally of seven sixes against Sri Lanka (at Mumbai, 2009-10) and New Zealand (at Hyderabad, 2010-11) respectively.

11.11 Hashim Amla's strike-rate in the match-lowest for any batsman facing 200 or more balls in a Test innings.

12 Number of scoring shots by Hashim Amla on day four out of 207 balls he faced. That is nearly one scoring shot of every three overs of batting!

31.31 The difference in Ajinkya Rahane's batting average before the Delhi Test and after his two innings in Delhi Test. His average was 7.83 before the Delhi Test and 39.14 now.

227 Runs scored by Ajinkya Rahane in the match – Only VVS Laxman (259 vs Australia also at Delhi in 2008-09) and Polly Umrigar (228 vs West Indies at Port-of-Spain in 1961-62) have scored more runs in a Test for India while batting at number five or lower.

398 Number of dot balls played by South African batsmen out of 432 they faced.
