Hosts Hyderabad picked two points by virtue of the first innings lead as their 'Elite' Group 'B' Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu ended in a draw on Saturday.

Tamil Nadu, facing a deficit of 170 runs after following-on, played defensively and saw the day off with little damage before play was called off after the eighth mandatory over.

Tamil Nadu, after being bundled out for 240 in reply to Hyderabad's first innings total of 447, resumed the final day at 87 for 3 and treaded a cautious path to coast to 239 for four when play was called off.

Middle order batsmen Badrinath and S Viswanath played with caution and guided the team to safety by scripting a 103-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Badrinath compiled a patient 56, facing 208 balls with three fours and one six while Vishwanath notched an unbeaten on 70 with seven hits to the fence and took the team to safety.

For Hyderabad, Vishnuvardhan and Shivaji Yadav claimed two wickets each.
