Pawar restricts Andhra

A rich haul of seven wickets by spinner Rajesh Pawar restricted Andhra Pradesh from amassing a huge total in their first innings against Baroda in the four-day Elite Group A Ranji Trophy match in Vadodara on Monday.

At end of the second day's play, Baroda were 33 without loss in reply to Andhra Pradesh first innings total of 342.

Captain Connor Williams (19 not out) and Satyajit Parab (12 not out) were at the crease.

Resuming at 170 for 4, both the overnight Andhra Pradesh batsmen L N Prasad Reddy and B Sumanth played carefully and added 54 runs for the fifth wicket before Sumanth became fell to Pawar.

After this, the wickets fell regularly till Mohammed Faiq came to bat.

The eighth-wicket partnership between Prasad and Faiq added 70 valuable runs which helped Andhra cross the 300-run mark. Faiq made 41 runs studded with 4 fours.

Reddy scored 148 hitting 12 fours in 656 minutes before being run out.

For Baroda, Pawar took seven wickets conceding 87 runs.
