Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed arrived in Karachi with the Champions Trophy on Tuesday and he was given a hero’s welcome after winning the ICC competition, beating India by 180-runs at the Oval in London on Sunday.
Hoards of fans gathered outside Sarfraz’s house creating pandemonium, forcing local police to stage a minor lathi charge. Other than this slight hiccup, it was all cheer and joy for the Pakistan fans who have had to wait for 25 years for Pakistan to bring home an ICC title. The last time it had happened, the then 44-year-old Imran Khan’s inspirational leadership guided the Pakistanis to the 1992 ICC World Cup in Australia.
