Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola has passed the buck for his controversial IPL bonus to former chief operating officer Don McIntosh.

Testifying before the Nicholson inquiry looking into the financial affairs of CSA instituted by sports minister Fikile Mbalula, Majola said the controversial huge bonuses that he, McIntosh and other senior CSA staff received for hosting the 2009 IPL second edition in South Africa, were determined by McIntosh.

"McIntosh did a full schedule, including his (own bonus) which I accepted as well. I never discussed mine as it's very difficult to discuss your own bonus," Majola told the inquiry.

While CSA's reluctance to reveal details of the contract with the IPL organisers to provincial affiliates was slammed at that time, Majola said the IPL contract was exactly the same as those used for hosting other ICC tournaments.

Don McIntoshMajola is under fire for political wrangling over the IPL bonuses which has seen former board members, including the CSA president Mtutuzeli Nyoka, dismissed when they called for independent inquiries.

While an internal inquiry merely slapped Majola on the wrist for not declaring the bonuses to the board, a subsequent independent inquiry by auditors KPMG found him to be in breach of fiduciary duties.

Although other current board members testified earlier this week that Majola had not deliberately flouted the Companies Act. The inquiry heard on Monday board members that even while the IPL bonus issue was being investigated, Majola accepted further CSA bonuses without the board being aware of it.

The inquiry expects to wind up oral evidence by the end of this week. Mbalula has requested a final report before Christmas.
