Lasith Malinga claimed five wickets as Sri Lanka beat Scotland by 183 runs in the one-day international tri-series, also featuring Ireland, at the Grange Cricket Club ground in Edinburgh on Wednesday.

The victory enabled the islanders end their tour of the British Isles on a winning note.

The Sri Lankans, who were beaten by England in the Test and one-day series, amassed 284 for seven, following fifties from openers Mahela Jayawardene (64) and Dimuth Karunaratne (60).

In reply, the Scots, who had beaten Ireland by five wickets earlier, found the 27-year-old Malinga's slingshot deliveries unplayable and were dismissed for 101, Majid Haq emerging their top scorer with 35.

Malinga finished with five wickets for 30 runs, having earlier scored an unbeaten 32 off 15 balls, inclusive of two sixes.
