Former cricketer and BJP MP Kirti Azad has come to the aid of actor Shah Rukh Khan over the Wankhede stadium incident saying the whole episode is a ploy to divert attention from the spot-fixing scandal.

Shah Rukh Khan"I think basically this is a ploy to divert the issue of spot-fixing that has put the board (BCCI) and the IPL into a big question mark. I do not believe that Shah Rukh will be so irresponsible to come drunk that also along with seven children after the match," he said outside Parliament on Thursday.

IPL team co-owner Shah Rukh got into a alleged scuffle with guards and MCA officials at the stadium on Wednesday when he was trying to enter the ground along with some children.

The MCA officials have lodged a police complaint against Khan for his alleged misbehaviour at the stadium and decided to ban him for life from entering the premises.

"Has the police done a medical check-up? Do you think with cameras all around a person of his stature will do such thing," Azad asked.

Blaming MCA for the whole episode, he said, "MCA is at fault for the fracas."

Reacting to the Khan episode, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav said, "It is one-sided version. Shah Rukh's version should also be heard before making comment on the issue. He is a good actor."

JD (S) MP Vijay Mallya, who is also the owner of IPL team Royal Challengers said, "It is not correct for me to comment. I have seen the TV channel reports. I also heard Rajiv Shukla on the issue. He said that facts have to be investigated. So it would be unfair for me to comment. I know Shah Rukh very well and he is very passionate and enthusiastic about his team. I have always found him to be exceptionally well behaved."

Defending the actor, BSP MP Vijay Bahadur Singh said "Shah Rukh is part of the IPL so why he was stopped at the gate. If he violated any rule then there is a way to deal with the situation."

"What was his fault? Was he a terrorist," Singh asked, adding, "If he had gone inside the stadium along with some children then what was wrong with it?"
