Sunrisers Hyderabad has announced the arrival of Kevin Pietersen, who will join the team early evening on Friday.

The star batsman was bought by Sunrisers in this year's auction but allowed to return home to England to play county cricket (for Surrey) at his request.

His return to India will certainly add firepower to the Orange Army's top order as it battles to seal a top-four berth.

He will be available for selection for Sunrisers' last home game against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, May 17.

Sunrisers currently lie third in the table, with 14 points, thanks to a solid run of form that has seen them win four of their last five matches.

Pietersen is in fine form, having scored a triple-century for Surrey only days ago. His return will strengthen Sunrisers' already formidable batting line-up, which includes captain David Warner, currently the leading run-scorer with 504 runs from 12 matches.

"Kevin Pietersen will be joining us on the 15th of May in India. Sunrisers picked Kevin at this year's auction and he will be available to take part in the remainder of our campaign this season," said Sunrisers' CEO, K Shanmugam.

"It is great news that KP will be joining us earlier than planned. To add a world-class batsman to our squad at the business end of the tournament is a huge bonus, we look forward to welcoming him to our squad," said coach Tom Moody.

Pietersen, who made his IPL debut in 2009, has played 32 games so far, scoring 928 runs at an impressive strike rate of 136.07.
