Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India about non-payment of dues from Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) -- the franchise he represented in the first three editions of the Indian Premier League.

"Yes, Sangakkara has written to the BCCI about non-clearance of his dues. The matter came up for discussion during yesterday's governing council meeting," a senior official told PTI on Thursday.

It is learnt that the player has expressed apprehension about playing for Kings XI Punjab in case they happen to pick him at the upcoming auctions.

Sangakkara was bought by KXIP during the first auction for US $700,000. Incidentally, the management handed him the captaincy during the last edition after stripping Yuvraj Singh, who led the team during the first two editions, from the job.

A spokesperson of Kings XI, in a statement, however, denied that the franchise owes the Sri Lankan or any other player anything.

"This is incorrect information. KXIP would like to confirm that all dues to players have already been paid," read the statement.

Kings XI Punjab had their worst of the three IPL seasons in last edition when they finished last.

Not only Sangakkara, but there are a few other players also who played for either KXIP or Rajasthan Royals and are yet receive full payment.

When IPL's chief executive officer Sundar Raman was contacted on what will be their course of action, he replied: "If there's anything, we will inform you in due course of time."

Repeated calls to Kings XI Punjab COO Col Arvinder Singh went unanswered.
