He might have retired more than 17 months ago, but the sight of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar in the Mumbai Indians dug-out in their IPL match against Kings XI Punjab here brought out the biggest roar from the capacity crowd at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

When the big screen mounted on the east and west stands of the stadium showed India's best-known sportsman, the crowd yelled "Sachin, Sachin", bringing back memories of the days when he was playing in the middle for either the country, his state team Mumbai or for IPL franchise team MI.

It was at this venue that Tendulkar, scorer of a staggering 100 international centuries in Tests and ODIs combined, bid a tearful adieu to the game in November 2013.

Tendulkar would be turning 42 on April 24, which would be another big day to cherish for the millions of his fans around the world.
