Chennai Super Kings are aiming to go top of the table, but a determined Rajasthan Royals stand in the way when the two sides clash in the Tuesday's IPL match in Ranchi.

Tied on points with Kings XI Punjab, Chennai are second on the table because of a slightly lower net run-rate. Looking for their third crown in the IPL, they have won seven of their nine games this season.

Rajasthan occupy the third slot with six wins from nine matches.

Given their fine run, both teams start as equals in the match even though it was Chennai who came out trumps the first time the two sides came face to face this season.

Rajasthan are flying high

Rajasthan are flying high after the impressive victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, when they chased down a massive 191-run target.

In Karun Nair, they have discovered a fairly consistent batsman at the top. Certainly, he has silently worked towards cementing his place in the side.

The likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith and Sanju Samson have also come good, making Rajasthan a reasonably strong line-up to deal with.

Skipper Shane Watson is due to make a big impact in the tournament even though he has produced fine cameos.

Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum are in good form

On the other hand, Chennai are not any less when it comes to batting; they have an array of power-hitters in Dwayne Smith, Brendon McCullum, Faf du Plessis and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

All these batsmen are in fine form and it will take some effort by the Rajasthan bowlers to contain them. On the bowling front, too, both teams are evenly matched, but neither of them have any big name.

Off-spinning all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is, however, trump card. Interestingly, he has the best bowling figures of the tournament so far, in the match against Rajasthan.
