3 Indians included in the squad
India captain Mithali Raj was named captain of the ICC Women's World Cup team that also included her teammates Deepti Sharma and the big-hitting Harmanpreet Kaur in the 12-woman team, announced by the game’s parent body on Monday.
The 34-year-old from Hyderabad, was selected as captain after she led by example, scoring 409 runs in the 30-day tournament.
Her inspiring performance saw India reach only its second final, first in 12 years, where they lost to England by nine runs in one of the most thrilling finals in front of a packed to capacity Lord’s on Sunday.
Anya Shrubsole, the hero in the final against India, was one of the five England players in the squad. Opener Tammy Beaumont, wicket-keeper Sarah Taylor, left-arm spinner Alex Hartley and all-rounder Natalie Sciver were the other World Cup winners in the ICC World Cup team.
Sciver, who scored 369 runs and took seven wickets, was chosen as the 12th player.
