"This is with reference to some comments attributed to me ("They cannot beat us here and we will feel very happy"), with reference to the tours to be undertaken by England and Australia to India in the 2012-13 season, which are being carried by sections of the media", a statement from Srinivasan read.

"I would like to make it clear that I have not made these statements to any mediaperson or media organisation. The claims that I have done so are baseless and totally false," the statement added.

Srinivasan, while trying to defend the team's dismal overseas performance over the last 12 months, during which it lost seven consecutive Tests, was quoted as saying: "England won 5-0 in England. They came here within a month or two and lost 5-0. Last time, after our loss to England, I had said that we will beat them when they visit India.

"It is a case of Australians played better in their home conditions.

"Next New Zealand is coming to India and it will be followed by England and Australia. We will beat these three teams on our own soil. They cannot beat us here and we will feel very happy."
