Munaf suffers suspected ankle injury

Indian paceman Munaf Patel suffered a suspected ankle injury as he fell on the ground while chasing the ball during the fifth and final one-dayer against England in Cardiff on Friday.

Munaf was running from the long off chasing the ball after England captain Alastair Cook had sliced a Ravindra Jadeja delivery in the air.

He slipped as the grass was wet due to intermittent rain and fell across the painted outfield which has sponsor's logo with his right ankle hitting the surface.

Munaf grimaced with pain and was later taken off the field with his right ankle in bandage. He had already bowled four overs for 26 runs and did not come out to bowl again in the rain-curtailed match.

India has been hit hard by a spate of injuries in this disastrous tour of England with several players, including top guns Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh among them.
