Gujarat medium-pacer Jasprit Bumrah was named as India's replacement for the injured Mohammad Shami in the Twenty20 series against Australia, starting January 26.
The 22-year-old hasn't played international cricket since finishing as India's second highest wicket-taker at last year's World Cup with 17 victims.
He is in good form for Gujarat, having bagged 14 scalps in nine matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali domestic T20 tournament.
Shami, who returned from a long injury lay-off, was ruled out of the Australia tour with a hamstring strain even before the start of the three-match series.
The Indian team is scheduled to play three Twenty20 matches, starting January 26, 2016.
Bumrah will leave for Australia on January 22 along with other T20I team members -- Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, Suresh Raina and Hardik Pandya.
Having already lost ongoing the five-match One-Day International series after three defeats, India will look to bounce back in the T20s, which will act as a tune-up event for the World T20 in India, starting March 8.
