The ICC does not believe that as you saluted Gary Wilson’s 80 your heart went out to the part-timers of the UAE, who at one stage looked so sure of earning their first victory over Ireland.
The ICC does not believe that you texted your mate who was stuck in work and that he came back with a retort which was only semi-joking, involving a preservative and a question on your parentage.
The ICC cannot believe any of this because for the next Cricket World Cup - in England and Wales, no less - it is planning to reduce the number of competing teams from 14 to 10. And effectively do away with the likes of UAE and, who knows, perhaps even Ireland.
