India have the best opportunity to displace arch-rivals and top-ranked Pakistan from their perch in the ICC Test rankings if they win the 2nd Test against New Zealand in Kolkata.

Team India can use topping the rankings as an added motivational factor to win the 2nd Test and claim the series as well.

The Kolkata Test starts on Friday, and going by the Indian team’s performance in the first Test in Kanpur, which they won by 197 runs, it seems very likely that India can reclaim the Test Championship mace from Pakistan’s grasp.

India had entered the three-match series against the Kiwis, trailing Pakistan by one point, and needed to win the series to move ahead of its arch-rivals.
