The Supreme Court on Wednesday was told that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has agreed to consider allowing three nominees from the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) to participate in its crucial meeting in Dubai on 2 February.
According to reports, amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium told the bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra that ICC was informed about the participation of three nominees – appointed by the apex court on 30 January – and all arrangements have been made for them.
Amicus Curiae told the court that an email was sent on Wednesday at 9 am and ICC has said that it would consider our request.
"It must be communicated to ICC that all the three enjoyed the same status," Justice Misra said after Subramanium sought to put at rest the controversy that only Vikram Limaye was being permitted to attend the ICC meeting.
The bench of Justice Dipak Misra, Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice D Y Chandrachud had on 30 January appointed BCCI Joint Secretary Amitabh Choudhary, Treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry and Limaye to represent the BCCI at the three-day ICC meet in Dubai.
Limaye is the managing director & CEO of Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC).
The court hearing on the issue took place after senior counsel Kapil Sibal and Shyam Divan in a mentioning in the morning had told the court that only Limaye was being permitted to attend the meeting by the ICC. The senior counsel had appeared for the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA).
