Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar says Lord Ganesha holds a special place in his heart and he prays to him every day.

"Ganpati is in my heart. It is not because it is the Ganesh Utsav that I remember or worship Ganpati; I remember and pray to him everyday," Tendulkar had told Rediff.com some years back.

Maharashtra wears a lively look during the 10-day festivities as Hindus welcome Lord Ganesha, the destroyer of obstacles, to their homes.

Ganesh Chaturthi, the birthday of Lord Ganesha, was celebrated on September 5.

Every year Ganesha, the Lord of success and the destroyer of obstacles, is brought home and honoured during the ten-day festival.

Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes was at Tendulkar’s home in Bandra, Mumbai, seeking Lord Ganesha’s blessings.

Later Tendulkar and Rhodes were joined by Yuvraj Singh.

The batting icon was one of the first celebrities to wish his followers on social media.
