India captain Sourav Ganguly's participation in the Challenger Trophy hinges on the outcome of a fitness test that physio John Gloster will take on Friday.
A strong rumour has been doing the rounds in the city that Ganguly, suffering from an elbow injury sustained during the Zimbabwe trip, would drop out of the October 10-13 tournament in Mohali, but sources close to the skipper said the issue would be decided only after he has taken the fitness test.
A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been done on his right elbow and the report has been sent to Gloster who will go through it and put Ganguly

through the paces to test his fitness.
Some fear that the injury Ganguly carries is akin to that of Sachin Tendulkar's a condition known as tennis elbow that debilitates movement of the arm.
Ganguly has been named captain of the India senior side. If he doesn't get the go-ahead from Gloster then possibilities are that he could attend the ICC-organised captain's summit in Sydney on October 12.
So far it is being said Team India vice-captain Rahul Dravid, who is already in Australia to represent Rest of World in the Super Series, could attend the skippers' meet for India.
