A three-member committee of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) visited the newly-constructed Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) stadium at Khandheri, where the English team is scheduled to play an ODI against India in January.
John Carr (director of operations for ECB), Reg Dickson (security officer) and Ian Smith (press officer) visited the stadium to inspect the facilities available for players, audience, media and other supporting staff of both the teams, sources in the SCA said.
BCCI vice-president Niranjan Shah and Cricket Operations manager Suru Nayak accompanied the ECB officials.
The ECB officials first met the Rajkot rural Superintendent of Police Premveer Singh and discussed the security arrangements before proceeding to the stadium to inspect the wicket and pavilion, they said.
Earlier, former Australia opener David Boon, who is now ICC match referee, visited the Khandheri stadium during the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy, played from September 29 to October 2.
