Former India captain Rahul Dravid has been named mentor of Delhi Daredevils and Paddy Upton coach of the Indian Premier League franchise.
Dravid recently coached the Indian team at the Under-19 World Cup. He was mentor of Rajasthan Royals in the last two seasons of the IPL before the franchise was suspended from the T20 tournament for two years by the Justice Lodha Committee in the aftermath of the spot-fixing scandal that rocked the sixth edition of the T20 tournament in 2013.
South Africa’s Upton was the mental conditioning coach of the Indian team when Gary Kirsten was coach. He also worked as head coach of Rajasthan Royals from 2012-2015.
Recently, he was head coach of the Sydney Thunder cricket team in the Australian Big Bash League and Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League.
Former Mumbai Ranji Trophy opener Zubin Bharucha was named the franchise’s Technical Director.
The remaining support staff for the season includes former India cricketers TA Sekar, Pravin Amre, Sridharan Sriram and physios Paul Close and Vaibhav Daga, who were also part of the squad last year.
