Trust Chris Gayle to get controversially cheeky, even if it involves a new-born.
Now, the burly left-handed West Indian cricketer announced the arrival of his new-born daughter on his Instagram page, and matter-of-factly stated that he has named her 'Blush'.
'Would like to welcome the arrival of our beautiful daughter 'Blush' to this world 2 hours ago, Thank God. #GoodHealth&Strength - The greatest gift and feelings anyone would want. Great experience witnesses every bit of it. Have to give my blessings to Tasha, strong woman. #Amen,' he posted along with a picture of him and his partner Tasha.
The name, maybe, is in reference to a controversy he was involved in during Australia's Big Bash League earlier this year.
Gayle made ‘inappropriate’ remarks to a female television presenter live on air after a BBL T20 cricket match.
Playing for the Melbourne Renegades, Gayle was speaking to Channel 10 presenter Mel McLaughlin after he made a quick-fire 41 runs of 15 balls in his team's victory against Tasmania.
"I wanted to come and have an interview with you as well, that's the reason why I'm here... to see your eyes for the first time," Gayle said.
"Hopefully we win this game and we can have a drink after, don't blush baby," he added.
McLaughlin, who appeared uncomfortable as a result of the 36-year-old Gayle's remarks, said "I'm not blushing", as she tried to continue with the interview.
Since the controversy erupted, Australian media went after Gayle for those comments and McLaughlin herself said she wanted to move on from them.
Considering a controversy of this magnitude surrounding the name 'Blush', only time and Gayle will tell us if that is really the name he has blessed his daughter with or is it a joke he's played on his fans and followers.
