Philander plays down CSK's local support system

The crowd may not be on their side but Cape Cobras' pace bowler Vernon Philander is not losing his sleep over that and feels home support would not make much of a difference when they take on Chennai Super Kings in a Champions League Twenty20 match, in Chennai, on Wednesday.

"I don't think so, in 2009 Champions League, we played Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bangalore and overcame them. We are not going to get affected (by the local support)," said Philander.

Defending champions CSK slumped to a shock three-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians in their opening Group A match on Saturday and are under pressure to get back to winning ways in what has already been labelled the 'Group of Death'.

Philander added that after the unconvincing fielding effort against New South Wales Blues in their first group match, where they dropped both the Australian side's openers and missed a run-out, Cobras would be "on the money" against CSK.

About his impressive show in the match against NSW Blues, where he grabbed 2/21 in four overs, the South African pacer said, "I thought the wicket was pretty slow and I tried to mix up my pace and keep it pretty simple."
