Australian women's cricket team overcame the disappointment of losing the T20I series, as they thrashed India Women by 101 runs in the first One-day International in Canberra.

With this victory, Australia have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-ODI series. After posting a competitive 276 for six, Australia bundled out India for 175 in 46.5 overs.

The home team rode on a brilliant 180-run stand for the third wicket between Alex Blackwell (114) and Ellyse Perry (90) after opting to bat first. Blackwell's 114 came off 112 deliveries that included 12 fits to the fence, while Perry took 118 balls for her 90, which was studded with seven boundaries and a six.

Skipper Meg Lanning also chipped in with a crucial 43 at the top of the order. Among Indians, medium pacer Shikha Pandey was the pick of the bowlers with three for 32.

India faltered in their run chase with Perry contributing with the ball as well. Returning impressive figures of four for 45, Perry ran through India's top and middle order with the visitors struggling to get into the groove.

Perry never allowed the Indian batswoman to settle down.

Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored with 42 off 72 balls, but no other player could reach more than 25, and India's innings folded inside 47 overs.

Besides, Perry, Megan Schutt (1-15), Grace Harris (1-13) and Jess Jonassen (1-22) took wicket apiece.

Brief scores:
Australia Women: 276 for six in 50 overs (Alex Blackwell 114, Ellyse Perry 90; Shikha Pandey 3/32).
India Women: 175 all out in 46.5 overs (Harmanpreet Kaur 42, Jhulan Goswami 25; Ellyse Perry 4/45).
