Despite his right foot still broken and is causing him a lot of pain, Australian speedster Brett Lee has said that he would not like to sit out of the Friday's tri-series match against Sri Lanka at the MCG.
"It (toe) is still broken. I had an X-ray yesterday. The show must go on. You've got to do these things when you're playing for your country. It has been very painful," said Lee.
"I've come back a lot earlier than I probably should have, but you have to do that when you're playing for your country," he added.
In case the 35-year-old limited-overs specialist fails to take the field tomorrow, James Pattinson, who himself is making a comeback from foot injury, would come in his place.
But Lee said he did not even want to think of not playing.
"This series is certainly alive now so that should be a lot of fun. I haven't thought about (not playing tomorrow).
"Hopefully I've been doing my job and playing some decent cricket. I'm just really focused on what I'm doing, trying to lead the attack. We have got a great squad of players and some serious depth so we'll wait and see what happens tomorrow night," Lee was quoted as saying by Sydney Morning Herald.
Lee, who has claimed five wickets at an average of 36 in four matches in the series so far, injured his foot while fielding off his own bowling in a Twenty20 international against India in Melbourne on February 3.
The injury required at least a month to heel properly but Lee returned to action in an ODI against Sri Lanka in Sydney two weeks later.
Meanwhile, the Australian selectors are keen to see a fit-again Pattinson play against Sri Lanka before the finals as the promising pacer has not turned out for the national side due to foot injury since the Sydney Test victory over India nearly two months ago.
