Rahane joins an elite list comprising of Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli as the only Indian batsmen to have scored a century in each innings of a Test match. Infact, Gavaskar has achieved the landmark thrice, while Dravid has twice done it.

Mumbai right-hander Rahane scored 100 not out before India declared their second innings on 267 for five to set the South Africa a stiff target of 481 to win the Test match at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

In first innings, Rahane ended a run of poor scores in the ongoing series with a splendid innings of 127 that helped India rally from a difficult position and post a healthy 334.

Interestingly, Rahane had failed in his debut Test at the Feroz Shah Kotla, against Australia in March 2013 perishing for single digit scores in both the innings. But he made up for that blip in grand style in his return to the venue as India continued their domination in the four-match series.
