Mumbai captain Ajit Agarkar was ruled out of the Irani Trophy match against Rest of India with an injury, a MCA official said on Monday.

"Agarkar is down with a groin injury," the official said.

All-rounder Abhishek Nayar will captain Mumbai in place of Agarkar for the February 6-10 match at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

Agarkar led Mumbai to their 40th Ranji Trophy title last month after they beat Saurashtra by an innings and 125

runs in the final.

Nayar was one of the top players for Mumbai in this year's Ranji Trophy. He amassed 966 runs for Mumbai to finish as the second highest run getter in the Ranji Trophy this season, with the help of three hundreds and eight half-centuries.

He also proved his utility with the ball, claiming 19 wickets.
