New South Wales bowler Aaron Bird has been reported for having a doubtful bowling action during his stint in the Ford Ranger Cup, Cricket Australia said on Friday.

Match umpires had mentioned about Aaron as having a doubtful bowling action with some of his deliveries during the Ford Ranger Cup matches between Queensland and New South Wales on October 18, South Australia and New South Wales on October 22, and the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash Final between New South Wales and Victoria on January 24.

Under the Cricket Australia Doubtful Bowling Action Procedures, any bowler who is mentioned by three different umpires in the same season is reported and within 21 days the bowler has to undergo a bowling action analysis.

Within 14 days of the completion of the testing at the Australian Institute of Sport bio-mechanics laboratory in Canberra, an assessment report is sent to Cricket Australia.

However, till this report is received the player stays eligible for selection in his state team but if his action is found illegal, he will be suspended from inter-state competitions for minimum of 90 days.

Only after the player displays a complete bio-mechanical analysis that demonstrates a legal action, he can make a comeback. If he is not happy with the findings, he can appeal against the bio-mechanical assessment report.
