A wet outfield due to overnight rain delayed the start of the second T20 international between India and Australia at the VCA stadium in Nagpur on Friday.
The city has been witnessing rain for the last few days, leaving the ground soggy, which has forced the umpires to delay the toss.
The two umpires -- KN Ananthapadmanabhan and Nitin Menon -- are concerned about the safety of the players and have already made two inspections of the outfield at 7pm, 8pm abut they are still not happy with the conditions.
At a third inspection at 8:45pm local time it was decided that the toss will take place at 9.15pm. The first ball will be bowled at 9.30pm.
The groundstaff were trying to dry up the wet patches by throwing saw dust. The main area of concern was a patch at wide mid-on which is soft and still not safe for the players.
Earlier, the players of the two teams went about their usual drills ahead of the match.
The practice sessions of both India and Australia were cancelled on Thursday due to rain.
Australia lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the opening game by four wickets.
