Asian Games Cricket: 3 down! India keep Lanka under pressure

Axar Patel comes into the attack.

He starts with a wide, tossed up and drifting down the leg side. Then India strike again! Nuwanidu Fernando gets a single, but Lasith Croospulle is run out at the striker's end. A direct hit from Ravi Bishnoi catches Croospulle well short of his crease.

Sahan Arachchige is the new batter. He sends the first ball back to Axar before smashing back-to-back boundaries. He then takes a single towards the leg side before a dot ball ends the over.

Eleven runs and a wicket come off the over as Sri Lanka slip to 11-3 after two overs.

Sineth Jayawardena and Lasith Croospulle are at the crease, with Jayawardena on strike. Jasprit Bumrah has the new ball.

Jayawardena gets right behind the line, but he's in trouble -- LBW! 

Binura Fernando has the final over. Ishan Kishan starts with a couple towards long-on before launching a huge six. The fielder at long-off gets a hand to it but can't hold on.

Fernando then strays down the leg side and it's called wide -- pressure on the bowler.

Kishan drives the next one down to long-off for a single. Washington Sundar then gets into the act with a huge six before taking a single. Kishan picks up another single to long-off to finish the innings.

Eighteen runs come off the final over as India finish on 169-7.

Sri Lanka need 170 to win.

Croospulle continues. Ishan Kishan and Shivam Dube deal in singles before Kishan finds the boundary. He follows it up with a couple of runs as nine come off the over. India move to 146-6 after 18 overs.

Tharindu Ratnayake is back into the attack and Kishan welcomes him with another boundary before taking a risky single.

Dube defends the next two balls, but then he's gone! Caught by Sahan Arachchige at cover. What a catch! Neither Dube nor the bowler can quite believe it -- that is some effort from Arachchige.

Washington Sundar is the new batter and defends the final ball of the over. Five runs and a wicket come off it as India reach 151-7 after 19 overs.

Croospulle continues. Ishan Kishan defends the first ball before taking a single towards long-on.

Tilak Varma defends the next two balls, but he's gone! He is stumped and departs for just 2 off four balls.

Eleven runs and a wicket come off the over as India move to 125-6 after 15 overs.

Sahan Arachchige continues. Ishan Kishan and Axar Patel keep the scoreboard ticking with singles before Kishan finds the boundary. 

Sahan Arachchige is back into the attack. Axar Patel punches the first ball to cover for no run and then sends the next one back to the bowler. 

Vijayakanth Viyaskanth comes into the attack. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer pick up a single each before Kishan launches a huge six. He then defends the next two balls and takes a single off the last. 

Ishan Kishan, the left-hander, comes to the crease and blocks his first ball. He gets off the mark with a single and then picks up two more singles to end the over.

Four runs and a wicket come off it as India move to 62-3 after seven overs.

Wanuja Sahan comes into the attack and the batters are happy to deal in singles. Just five runs come off the over as India reach 67-3 after eight overs.

Sahan Arachchige is back into the attack. Shreyas Iyer goes back and punches it to the right of the bowler for a single.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is gone! He looks to attack but picks out Sineth Jayawardena and departs for a quickfire 38 off 21 balls. 

Binura Fernando continues after the powerplay. Shreyas Iyer dabs the first ball towards short third but finds the fielder for no run. He then plays the next one towards square leg for a single.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi tries to heave the next ball through the leg side but misses. Another dot ball. But he makes up for it with a huge six before finishing the over with another dot.

Just four runs come off the over and India are 58-2 after six overs.

Tharindu Ratnayake continues. Shreyas Iyer takes a single, but Vaibhav Sooryavanshi then goes down on one knee looking for the slog sweep. 

Binura Fernando comes into the attack, with Shreyas Iyer joining Vaibhav Sooryavanshi at the crease after Sanju Samson's dismissal.

Vaibhav works one away to long-on for a single, but he is clearly finding it difficult to get the pace off the pitch. Shreyas also gets off the mark with a single to third man, and the two batters exchange a few more singles as they look to settle in.

But you can't keep Vaibhav quiet for long. He finally gets one away for a boundary, and then follows it up with another four. What a special player he is!

Twelve runs come off the over and India move to 36-2 after four overs.

Sanju Samson struggled to pick the turn from Tharindu Ratnayake, but managed to break free with a boundary off the next delivery. 

Sri Lanka kept India in check in the opening over, with just six runs coming off it.

The weather looks clear in Nisshin from here on, so hopefully we get a full 20-over game.

And India have plenty of firepower at the top. With Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson in the line-up, this could be quite a start if the trio gets going. Plenty of runs -- and fireworks -- could be on the cards.

Sri Lanka have won the toss and elected to field first.

Pakistan beat Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-shortened 13-over semifinal and have booked their place in the gold-medal match.

They will face the winner of India vs Sri Lanka, while the losing side will take on Bangladesh in the bronze-medal match.

Pakistan have booked their place in the Asian Games men's cricket final after beating Bangladesh in the first semifinal.

They will now face the winner of the second semifinal between India and Sri Lanka, which is set to follow.

India will go into the contest as favourites, with a strong squad at their disposal, while Sri Lanka are relying on a largely second-string side with their main team in England.
