Punjab Kings will look to halt their slide in the IPL season when they take on Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala on Monday.
After a dream start that saw them win seven games in a row and briefly top the table, Punjab have suddenly lost momentum with three consecutive defeats.
Their problems have come from multiple areas. The catching has been poor, the pace attack led by Arshdeep Singh has leaked runs, and the explosive opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh has slowed down considerably. Captain Shreyas Iyer, however, remains confident that the team can recover by returning to the mindset that brought success earlier in the season. With a few more wins likely enough to secure a playoff spot, Punjab still control their own fate.
Delhi Capitals arrive in even worse form, having lost five of their last six matches. Batting struggles on slow pitches, an underwhelming season for Kuldeep Yadav, and inconsistent fielding have all contributed to their decline.
Captain Axar Patel has already hinted at experimenting with combinations while planning ahead for next season.
