Matthew Kuhnemann returned to the attack, but Zimbabwe continued to rotate strike smartly. Bennett and Burl dealt mostly in singles, keeping the scoreboard moving.
Eight runs came from the over, taking Zimbabwe to 87/1 after 11 overs.
Nathan Ellis was brought back into the attack next. Burl started positively, picking up a couple before hammering two boundaries to put the pressure back on Australia. A wide yorker followed and was called wide. Burl then drove neatly to cover for a quick single. One delivery was pushed straight back down the pitch, with the bowler getting a hand to it in his follow-through.
Twelve runs came from the over as Zimbabwe moved to 99/1 after 12.
Kuhnemann continued, and Burl attempted a cut but missed. A nudge towards midwicket brought up Zimbabwe's 100. Bennett added a single in the same region before Burl struck another boundary. He defended the next ball and took a single to close the over.
Seven runs came from it, and after 13 overs Zimbabwe were 106/1.
