Uncertainty continues over Rohit Sharma's availability for the upcoming Indian Premier League clash between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, even though he was seen going through a light training session in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Rohit had to leave the field during MI's batting innings in the sixth over after feeling discomfort in his hamstring during last Sunday's high-scoring match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium. He was on 19 off 13 balls when he retired hurt. MI eventually went on to lose the game by 18 runs, marking their third straight defeat of the season.
Speaking at the start of MI's training session on Wednesday, a team official said, "The medical team and the coaching staff are assessing him and we will get to know."
With the big match approaching, all eyes are now on Rohit's fitness -- whether he recovers in time, and if not, who Mumbai Indians will turn to in his place.
