Pakistan make two changes

UAE captain Muhammad Waseem has won the toss and has elected to field in their must-win game against Pakistan.

Pakistan have made two changes to the squad that suffered a heavy defeat against India. Haris Rauf and Khushdil Shah replace Sufiyan Muqeem and Faheem Ashraf.

"Going to bowl first. Today the way the weather is, dew will play a role. Will try to restrict them to a low total. It's a do or die game," Waseem said.

Pakistan skipper Salman Agha said, "We wanted to bat first and put them under scoreboard pressure. Great day for us to play a perfect game. They're a very good side. If we execute our plans for longer periods, we have a chance against any side."

Pakistan reach stadium; Match starts at 9pm

Pakistan's cricket team finally arrived at the Dubai International Cricket stadium for its must-win Asia Cup group match against the UAE on Wednesday.

Pakistan was forced to climb down from its pullout threat and head to the stadium for a crucial Asia Cup game against the UAE after the ICC once again rejected its demand for the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft on a day of intense drama.

Pakistan's cricket team had earlier refused to leave its hotel for the UAE match as Pycroft is due to officiate the game that will now start at 9pm IST instead of the original 8pm start.

Pycroft himself was present at the Dubai International Stadium and left the venue surrounded by bodyguards after he was called to the ICC Headquarters just a kilometer away from the ground.

Will Andy Pycroft stay as match referee?

There are reports that Andy Pycroft will continue as the match referee for Pakistan's Asia Cup match against UAE.

The ICC has reportedly rejected Pakistan's request to have Pycroft replaced as the match referee for their remaining matches in the Asia Cup.

Pakistan had held Pycroft responsible for the embarrassment it faced after Indian players refused to shake hands following their match on Sunday as a gesture of solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

According to the PCB, the 69-year-old Pycroft, who is a former Zimbabwe cricketer, had told its national captain Salman Ali Agha to refrain from shaking hands with his Indian counterpart Suryakumar Yadav.

The Pakistani team management also alleged that Pycroft did not allow the customary exchange of team-sheets between the two captains.

"This misconduct violates Article 2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Match Officials, which specifically makes it an offence for the Match Referee to conduct himself in a manner, which is contrary to the spirit of game and violates the MCC Laws," the PCB alleged in its first letter of complaint to the ICC.

"Given the gravity, political nature/background, and far-reaching consequences and repercussions, the misconduct has also caused disrepute to the game," it had stated.

The toss will take place at 8.30pm IST with the match scheduled to start at 9pm IST.

Pakistan vs UAE match delayed due to...

There has been a lot of drama ahead of Pakistan's must-win match against UAE in the Asia Cup in Dubai on Wednesday.

Pakistan's match against UAE is likely to be delayed by an hour after they initially refused to leave for the stadium.

Pakistan were unhappy that their demand to have Andy Pycroft removed as match referee was rejected for a second time by the ICC.

"Pycroft will remain match referee for Wednesday's game and if Pakistan don't turn up, UAE will be awarded full points," sources told PTI.

However, as per latest reports they have now made their way to the Dubai International Stadium.
