But a bright sunshine greets the players at the start of play on Day 3.
Prasidh Krishna starts off with the ball for India. The first ball is full and on the stumps as Pope nudges it to fine leg for a single.
Two slips and a fine gully for Harry Brook, who was yet to score from 12 balls faced late on the second day.
Brook defends the second ball on the off-side but he is beaten attempting to drive a full delivery which swings away.
Brook confidently behind the length ball before he cuts a short wide ball past point for a boundary to get off the mark.
The next ball is short and this time Brook plays a powerful pull shot over midwicket for a massive six into the stands.
