Markram continued, and Starc greeted him with a boundary first ball - a confident stroke that summed up his intent. He blocked the next delivery and then tucked one through the leg side for a single, rotating the strike.
Hazlewood, solid in defence, saw off two deliveries but then went for an ambitious shot over cover. Unfortunately for him, he didn't fully commit to the stroke, and ended up chipping it straight to Maharaj, who took a sharp catch around his right shoulder. Hazlewood fell for a determined 17 off 53 balls, ending a gutsy final-wicket stand.
Australia were bowled out for 207, with Starc unbeaten on 58 - a superb rear-guard effort that pushed their lead to a commanding 281 runs.
With that, the umpires called for lunch on Day 3. It's advantage Australia, thanks to their lower-order defiance.
