India take 2-0 lead in T20I series vs Bangladesh

image
BAN 135/9 (20) vs IND 221/9 (20) | Scorecard

India pulled off an all-round performance both with bat and ball to run out winners by a comprehensive margin of 86 runs against Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

In the earlier innings, the Indian batters really took an aggressive stance against the Bangladeshi bowling and the key partnership between Rinku Singh and Nitish Reddy.

India's bowling was equally clinical as they dismantled Bangladesh with surgical precision, complemented with some excellent fielding. While Mahmudullah put up a valiant and entertaining effort, the Indian bowlers kept tightening their grip from the other end, ensuring that India remained in control of the match.

The mounting scoreboard pressure proved too much for the visitors, leading to their eventual downfall.

With that result, India clinched victory by a huge margin of 86 runs, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match T20I series.

image
IND 221/9 (20) vs BAN | Scorecard

India managed to post a total of 221 runs on the board, despite a dramatic final over where they lost three wickets while adding just 8 runs. The Bangladeshi pacers, utilizing clever variations in their pace with the new ball, dismantled India's top order early. They dismissed the top three batsmen within the powerplay, leaving India struggling at 41 for 3. It was at this point that Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh formed a crucial partnership.

Reddy began his innings cautiously, scoring only 13 runs off his first 13 deliveries. However, once he received a free-hit, he shifted into an aggressive mode, becoming difficult for the bowlers to contain. He accelerated rapidly, targeting the spinners with powerful sixes and soon reached his maiden T20I fifty. At one stage, his strike rate exceeded 200 before he was eventually outfoxed by Mustafizur Rahman's well-executed slower delivery.

India look to seal series

image

Hello and welcome to the coverage of the second T20I between India and Bangladesh in New Delhi.

Bangladesh finds itself in a state of bewilderment, unable to fathom how to counter India's exceptional skills and mental fortitude.

The upcoming second T20I in New Delhi is unlikely to alter this narrative as the hosts' young prodigies continue to outshine their more experienced opponents.

Despite Bangladesh's reputation as a formidable opponent, India has utterly dominated the series thus far. Even with key players like Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Jasprit Bumrah rested, India's deep bench of white-ball talent has been on full display.

Sanju Samson, in particular, made a significant impact in the series opener, showcasing his potential as both an opener and wicketkeeper. With the T20 World Cup still two years away, consistent performances could solidify his position as a strong contender for future selections in the white-ball formats.

Considering India's complete dominance in the first match, there is little reason to expect changes to the playing XI. Mayank Yadav, a debutant, impressed with his fiery pace, while Nitish Kumar Reddy demonstrated his potential as a seam-bowling all-rounder, a rare commodity in Indian cricket.
