Even if Pant and Jaiswal are batting freely, the target is far out of reach for India. They need 263 runs in 54 overs at an asking rate of 4.87.
Jaiswal has got carried away with the momentum. He plays a wild slash, throwing his bat at a wide one from Cummins, to be beaten. He walks down the track but pushes away from his body and is beaten again on the outside edge.
The field is pushed back for the bouncers square of the wicket but Cummins sends down the yorker which Jaiswal digs out.
He cuts the last ball to deep point for a single.
Jaiswal uses his wrist to good effect to whip Lyon in the gap through midwicket for a boundary to complete his second fifty of the match, from 127 balls.
It has been one of the toughest half-centuries of this young opener's career but it will certainly be a big learning experience.
With Jaiswal and Pant in the middle, India's slim hopes of victory are still alive.
