Sri Lanka end Day Two on 140 for three (in 53 overs).

Thirimanne is unbeaten on 28, and giving him company is Mathews (on 19), the two having added 26 runs for the fourth wicket thus far.

The home team's innings made slow progress, as a result of which they are still 253 runs adrift.

Only 214 runs were possible on the day, of which only 75 were scored in the third session (in 32 overs).

Suffice to say the day belonged to India.

In Yadav's third over, Sanga gets his first boundary. Silva helps himself to a couple of boundaries in Ishant's fourth over, the second of them is an extremely lucky one considering he was trying to evade.

India make the first bowling change in the ninth over, Stuart Binny coming in place of Ishant (4-1-15-0). He appears to strike with his final ball.

But as Silva starts a walk back the umpires confirm the bowler has overstepped. So Binny will have to wait for his maiden Test wicket.

However, it is Umesh Yadav who provides India an early breakthrough, having Karunaratne (1) out leg before.

He came forward to defend a full delivery but was beaten and struck on the pads straight in line with the stumps.

Saha and Mishra are frustrating the home side. Herath is handed the ball in the 99th over, replacing Chameera (15-163-1).
