CLT20 Live: Kolkata crush Dolphins by 36 runs

A clinical Kolkata Knight Riders crushed Dolphins by 36 runs to maintain their unbeaten run in the CLT20.

Electing to bat first KKR put up 187-2 from their 20 overs. Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey were the star of Kolkata innings as they put on an unbeaten 153 runs to propel the IPL champions to huge score. 

Dolphins' chase never really started as they succumbed to the pressure of big total and Sunil Narine.

Spinner Sunil Narine has picked up wickets once again as he had Dolphins on the ropes with his spin bowling. 

Narine first castled Andile Phehlukwayo, who hit an enterprising 18-ball 32. Then the West Indian had Zondo walking back after he skied one to Chawla for 27. 

Kuldeep Yadav was expensive today, but managed to pick up wicket as he removed Jonathan Vandiarfor one.

After 18 overs Dolphins were 140-8.

Morne van Wyk and Vaughn van Jaarsveld have steadied the ship somewhat for Dolphins after early jolts.

Dolphins lost Cameron Delport and Cody Chetty in the first two overs. 

Van Wyk has been the aggressive of the the two and attacked Sunil Narine in his first over. 

The Dolphins skipper smashed three boundaries off the West Indian Narine. 

But just as we speak Piyush Chawla strikes for Kolkata as he removes Vaughn van Jaarsveld for 19.

Van Jaarsveld looking to attack the leg-spinner was stumped by Uthappa. 

van Wyk too departed soon as he was snapped by Yusuf Pathan for 34.

After 11 overs, Dolphins were 72-4.

Kolkata Knight Riders have struck in the opening over as Yusuf Pathan had Cameron Delport in the opening over itself. 

Chasing a stiff 188 for win, hit one straight to midwicket to Gautam Gambhir. 

Andre Russell made it two as he had Cody Chetty walking back as he hit one to mid on to Sunil Narine.

Dolphins were 12-2 after 2 overs.

Brilliant counter-attacking game from Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey helped Kolkata recover from a slow start to post a 187-2.

Kolkata, after electing to bat first, lost Jacques Kallis and Gautam Gambhir early. 

But Pandey stumped Dolphin bowlers with his lusty hitting to leave the visitors on the back foot during the 153-runs unbeaten partnership. 

Pandey was severe on Dolphins' best bowler Kyle Abbot smashing him for two sixes and two boundary. 

In the process the Karnataka batsman also brought up his half-century. 

Uthappa too wasn't far behind as he consolidated the innings and let the youngster take charge. 

In the end Uthappa was unbeaten on 85, while Pandey too carried his bat with 76

A brilliant half-century from Robin Uthappa and counter-attacking cricket from Manish Pandey has helped Kolkata Knigth Riders revive their innings. 

The duo, courtesy of the century stand has decided the up the ante with five  overs to go. 

After 16 overs, Kolkata were 138-2. Uthappa is on 68, while Pandey is on 44.

Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey have joined hands to forge a crucial partnership to revive Kolkata innings. 

The hosts were rocked by two early wickets, but Pandey and Uthappa, played sensibly by punishing poor balls, hitting them for six and boundary. 

The duo have added 50-runs stand for fourth wicket as Kolkata plundered 15 runs of Khaya Zondo's opening over. 

At the end of 10 overs, Kolkata were 89-2. Uthappa is on 41, while Pandey is on 23.

Craig Alexander the bowler as he beat Kallis' bat to have him castled. 

Kolkata batsman have struggled against pace and movement up the pitch.

Robbie Frylinck  provides the opening breakthrough as he had Gautam Gambhir walking back to pavillion for 12.

Gambhir looking to flick one off his pads was castled comprehensively by the medium pace.

Openers Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa both have hit the boundary boards. 

Gambhir has been lucky with couple of top edges evading the fielders.

Dolphin bowlers have bowled the right length and managed to extract some swing as well. 

At the end of three overs, Kolkata were 18-0.
