After a successful career as a player, Matthew Hayden is now gearing up to become an administrator and could replace Allan Border in Cricket Australia's Board.

haydenAccording to media reports in Melbourne, Hayden is set to become a representative of the cricketers in the 14-man CA board.

He is one of the two candidates for a couple of posts which will be decided at a Queensland Cricket annual general meeting.

"Who better to have on the board than someone of Matthew's playing experience who is still very much involved with the game and is still playing Twenty20 cricket with the IPL?" a CA source was quoted as saying by news.com.au.

"He's a very intelligent and well respected character who knows how the players think and that can only help the Board understand the players better as well," he added.

Hayden has been an executive member of the Australian Cricketers Association and has often been involved in contract discussions with the CA.

The 37-year-old is set to replace Border who has decided to call it quits after eight years.

Having retired from international cricket, Hayden is currently playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

"In some ways that makes him the perfect choice," the CA source said.
