A breathtaking 83 by opener Imran Nazir helped Lahore Badshahs defeat Mumbai Champs by eight wickets in the ICL 20s championship at the AMC cricket ground in Ahmedabad on Thursday night.
Chasing a target of 141 runs, Lahore Badshahs reached the victory with over six overs to be bowled.
For Lahore Badshah, the winning quest was a one-man show as Imran made his unbeaten 83 runs in just 38 balls. His enterprising knock was studded with as many as nine sixes and five boundaries with an amazing strike rate of 218.42.
Imran was well supported by his fellow opening partner Imran Farhat and captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who contributed 21 and 27 runs respectively, to steer his team to win the match by eight wickets.
Earlier, Mumbai Champs batting first made a brilliant start with openers Taufeeq Umar and D S Jadhav who added 84 runs for the first wicket, before former made exit with personal contribution of 41 runs in 42 balls.
However, Jadhav also returned to pavilion after scoring 57 runs off 46 balls with the help of seven hits to the rope.
Jadhav's exit proved fatal for the Mumbai Champs as its middle order failed to capitalise on the good start given by the openers and managed to score just 140 runs for loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Lahore Badshahs got two points from the match, while the losing team Mumbai Champs got nothing. Imran Nazir was adjudged Player of the Match.
