Hailing Indian cricket team's comprehensive win against Australia in the second Test, BCCI Finance Committee chairman Rajiv Shukla on Tuesday said the victory has silenced those who criticised the senior players unnecessarily.
"One should not criticise senior players without analysing their performance and track-record. The right combination of experience and young blood is important for a team," he said.
Shukla said the victory has proved right Indian selectors who kept a combination of senior and junior players in the team.
"The defeat of the Australian team at the hands of India shows that the Indian team is very strong. The victory margin shows our strength. It has proved that a combination of senior and junior players always works," Shukla told reporters.
Shukla was alluding to the clamour for retirement of the 'Fab five' comprising Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Anil Kumble. Ganguly has already announced that he would retire after the Test series against Australia.
